Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 3E0NXDN - BrewDog Manchester Outpost on Oxford Road in Manchester, England, showing a printed administration notice taped inside the glass beside prominent BrewDog branding. The notice states that BrewDog PLC, BrewDog Retail Limited, Draft House Holding Limited and BrewDog International Limited were in administration, with Clare Kennedy, Ian Partridge and Ben Browne of AlixPartners appointed as Joint Administrators on 2 March 2026. It further states that the stock-photo/gotonysmith-Premises.html?sortBy=relevant&pseudoid=237DAF28-A4ED-4448-8173-C0E81ABEEC6F Target=_Blank>premises are closed to the public, making this a strong editorial image of a branded hospitality venue affected by insolvency proceedings. The photograph is useful for news, business and documentary themes linked to bar closures, corporate distress, administration, insolvency, restructuring, the UK hospitality sector, craft beer chains and pressure on city-centre leisure operators. The large BrewDog and Manchester Outpost lettering creates a clear sense of place and brand identity, while the official printed notice adds evidential value for editorial use by directly recording the wording visible at the site. This makes the image especially relevant for coverage of the nightlife economy, consumer spending pressures, rising operating costs, business failure, venue shutdowns and the changing fortunes of prominent leisure brands in Britain. Oxford Road is one of Manchester's best-known central corridors, associated with student life, offices, culture and heavy pedestrian traffic, so the closure of a venue in this location also speaks to wider questions around footfall, trading conditions and the resilience of urban hospitality businesses. Overall, the image documents a specific moment in the commercial history of a well-known craft beer operator, capturing both the official closure message and the branded frontage of the Manchester premises in a way that is factual, timely and highly usable for editorial stock photography.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 3E6T4T0 - Neon Baghaven sign illuminated on the exterior of Mikkeller Baghaven in Copenhagen at dusk, mounted across a large industrial-style glazed facade close to the waterfront on Refshaleøen. The image captures the distinctive atmosphere of one of Mikkeller's best-known Copenhagen venues, with turquoise and green neon lettering reflected in tall window panels, festoon lights overhead and an evening sky adding mood to the former shipyard setting. Mikkeller's official location page describes Baghaven as one of its most scenic and welcoming venues, located on Copenhagen's waterfront and known for world-class beers, while Visit Copenhagen also highlights its harbour-front position with views across the water. The photograph is useful for editorial and commercial features on Copenhagen nightlife, Danish craft beer, Mikkeller, waterfront bars, brewery culture, industrial architecture, adaptive reuse, harbour regeneration, evening leisure and travel in the Danish capital. Baghaven has long been associated with wild ales, saisons and other distinctive beer styles, making it relevant for beer tourism, specialist brewing, gastropub culture and destination drinking guides. The building's worn exterior wall, large steel-framed windows and suspended string lights give the image a strong urban-industrial character, while the neon script sign adds colour, identity and visual drama. This image can also support stories about Refshaleøen as a creative waterfront district, post-industrial redevelopment, Scandinavian design-led hospitality, outdoor summer drinking and Copenhagen's wider food and drink scene. The weather appears dry with a dramatic cloud-filled evening sky, and the overall feel is calm, stylish and slightly gritty. As a documentary editorial image, it works well for travel pages, beer features, lifestyle coverage and articles about notable bars and brewery venues in Copenhagen.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2X2CG3F - This plain-speaking location image records Neon sign at night purpose of beer is to create pleasure,at Salt Beer Factory, in Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK, LS1 4GJ. The row metadata places the subject at 27-26 East Parade, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, LS1 4GJ. The spreadsheet date indicates 15 March 2024, so the picture can also work as a time-specific archive record. Plainly, the image is useful because it shows signs, night, words, sign, neon, nightlife, purpose of beer is to create pleasure, drinking, with search-relevant terms including signs, night, words, sign, neon, nightlife, drinking, drink, CAMRA, english, illumination, illuminated, lit, lighted. Hospitality images often work beyond simple venue illustration, because pubs and bars speak to tourism, music, night-time economies, independent trade and changing social habits. Leeds is one of the major cities of Yorkshire, shaped by markets, textiles, banking, retail, universities, railway connections and a large modern service economy, making city-centre details useful for stories about northern growth and urban change. Pub and bar imagery can illustrate the changing British and Irish hospitality trade, real-ale culture, night-time economies, independent businesses, tourism districts, licensing, social life and the pressure on high streets and leisure spending. It has strong value for publishers needing authentic documentary imagery for news pages, blog articles, council reports, social media graphics, presentations, magazine features and local-history explainers. Historically and socially, this kind of image can help connect past and present: older streets, civic institutions, transport systems, shops, signs, political messages or public services are not frozen museum pieces, but part of how people understand modern life, local identity and economic change.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2T2843K - Taken on 07 Oct 2023, this photograph shows The Brewery Tap, Leeds, 18 New Station St, Leeds, England, UK, LS1 5DL. The location is 18 New Station St, Leeds ,LS1 5DL. The picture is not just a record shot: it contains platform, concourse or service signage details that place the railway scene in a real working transport environment. The image links railway-station footfall with the modern revival of city-centre beer houses, craft ale bars and brewery-branded hospitality in Leeds. It could support features on pubs, beer, leisure, nightlife, tourism, heritage streets, local economies, independent hospitality and the pressures facing town-centre venues. For image buyers, the value is in the combination of recognisable subject, readable wording, location evidence and a plain documentary style that can be dropped into news, magazine, web, council, housing, transport, heritage or commercial commentary without looking over-produced. Searchable related phrases include Leeds, brewing, craft, ale, ales, bars, pubs, pub, outside, exterior, Yorkshire, LS1, plus wider ideas such as local identity, public realm, urban detail, social history, commercial change, everyday Britain, documentary photography and place-based storytelling. The composition gives designers scope for captions, page furniture, social media crops, report covers and article thumbnails, while the detailed captioning makes it more discoverable for searches using both specific place names and broader themes. It has value for both local and national stories, especially where writers need to connect a named place or object with wider economic, social, environmental or cultural change. Further SEO-friendly usage could include local services, town-centre change, heritage branding, British social history, public infrastructure, consumer behaviour, community identity and documentary evidence for newsletters, blogs, polic.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2RJ3YPX - A busy outdoor seating area at the Buxton Brewery Tap House located within the Pavilion Building at Pavilion Gardens in Buxton, Derbyshire, England. Groups of people sit at wooden benches enjoying craft beer and real ale on a warm, sunny day, with blue skies overhead and parasols providing shade. A chalkboard sign in the foreground advertises beers from Buxton Brewery, a well-known independent brewery closely associated with the Peak District and modern British craft-beer culture.
The Pavilion Building forms part of the wider Pavilion Gardens complex, a historic Edwardian leisure and events space near the centre of Buxton, a spa town renowned for its Georgian and Victorian architecture and its role as a gateway to the Peak District National Park. The scene captures contemporary British outdoor drinking culture, combining heritage surroundings with modern hospitality and tourism. The image conveys relaxation, social interaction, and seasonal enjoyment, typical of summer afternoons in English market towns.

The resulting Pale Ale was a long way off what Geoff had in mind, but nevertheless, was consumed with relish after a tantalising wait for fermentation and bottle-conditioning to run their course. Over the following months, recipes were tweaked, altered, thrown away and revived as they searched out information online and in countless books and picked the brains of generous and far more experienced brewers.
Within 12 months, with positive feedback and enthusiasm, the decision to take brewing to the next level and go commercial' was made and for a while Buxton cuckoo-brewed' at another local microbrewery. In January 2010, with Geoff going for it' full-time, brewing on a second-hand 800 litre plant began in earnest.
Fast-forward 9 years and the team, which has steadily grown to be 11 strong is now based in a 7000 square foot modern building on Staden Lane, Buxton. Its custom designed and (British) built brewhouse produces around 3500 litres per brew, 3 times per week.
The brewery makes upwards of 30 distinct brews of all kinds and has many other special editions both planned and in its back-catalogue. Innovation and super-high quality are the prime goals, along with a nod to tradition and an almost maniacal attention to detail.
All of the beers the brewery produces are designed to delight the senses and enthral the drinker. Not all beers are created equal, some are big and strong and full of powerful hops and malts, others are lighter, and have subtle nuances of flavour and aroma. All are intended to be enjoyed as a lovingly hand made product, nurtured by a small team of dedicated beer lovers.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2R0DWW2 - As Masham celebrated the King's Coronation, people in the small market town have spoken of hopes a buyer can be found for the Black Sheep Brewery.
Last week, Black Sheep announced administrators had been appointed after being hit very hard by the pandemic and a rise in costs.
The company, which employs around 50 members of staff, was founded in 1992 and has become a tourist hotspot bringing a significant amount of footfall to the town.
One local business owner told the Stray Ferret people are worried about a potential loss of income for their own businesses if the brewery doesn't survive.
Tim Ledbetter, owner of Bentley's of Masham, said:
With it being such a big employer, there is then a big knock-on effect.
We get a lot of trade from visitors of Black Sheep it could be detrimental.
The brewery reported turnover of £14.3 million as of March 31, 2022, according to its most recent accounts. However, it also stated a pre-tax loss of £1.18 million, compared to £862,871 profit in the previous year

The bar at the Village Hall has been run under licence, free form tie, by Derek & Alison Massey since July 2004, and is now managed by their son, Chris Massey.
The bar was originally set up by the Village Hall committee, but due to the Hall's charitable status, is now run separately with a rent payable. It still operates as a stock-photo/gotonysmith-Members.html?sortBy=relevant&pseudoid=237DAF28-A4ED-4448-8173-C0E81ABEEC6F Target=_Blank>members bar although visitors are welcome for a nominal fee and a visitors book exists for this purpose.
When originally opened, the bar was tied to John Smith's Brewery but quickly became free from tie and was amongst the first outlets in the area to stock real ale. We now regularly feature in the CAMRA Club of the Year contest and are awarded for the condition of the seven ever-changing real ales on offer. We currently hold the title for the Local and Regional CAMRA Club of the Year, and are in the final 4 for the whole country.
The Village Hall offers a warm welcome to members in the cosy lounge or more spacious hall, and as well as our excellent real ales, we also have a well stocked bar offering an excellent range of beers, wines and spirits and in particular, Gin!

Wye Valley Bitter, a session bitter at 3.7% abv
and Butty Bach (Welsh: little mate), a golden ale at 4.5% abv, which the Good Beer Guide describes as A burnished gold, full-bodied premium ale.
In addition to the core beer line, a rotation of monthly ales is also produced. A number of one-off beers have also been made for special events.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2JDJ523 - An editorial style photograph showing two wooden beer tasting paddles laid on an outdoor picnic bench, each carrying three small glasses of real ale, creating a six-beer tasting flight in a pub garden or brewery setting. The image captures the growing culture of beer sampling, craft beer discovery and real ale appreciation, with each paddle holding one-third pint measures that allow drinkers to compare colour, clarity, head retention and style before choosing a full pint. Visible handwritten labels on the wood identify beers including Acorn, Abbey, Holy and Onyx, adding authenticity and a sense of local pub or microbrewery character. The beers range from pale golden ale to darker stout or porter tones, making the photograph useful for themes linked to tasting boards, beer flights, cask ale, craft brewing, pub food and drink, hospitality, leisure and British drinking culture. This is a strong commercial and editorial image for articles about CAMRA-style ale appreciation, brewery taprooms, pub experiences, beer tourism, social drinking, outdoor hospitality and the presentation of drinks in attractive wooden serving paddles. The overhead viewpoint gives a clean, graphic composition, with the warm tones of the timber paddles and table contrasting against the cream and tan beer heads. Relevant search phrases include beer paddle, ale sampler, tasting flight, beer flight board, one third pint, craft ale selection, pub garden drinks, real ale tasting, brewery bar service, cask beer sampler, traditional ale, British pub culture, draught beer presentation, beer comparison, weekend leisure, summer drinking and independent brewery branding. The image also works well as a visual metaphor for consumer choice, variety, trial before purchase and the premiumisation of beer in pubs and bars, where tasting serves and curated paddle boards encourage experimentation with different brews and styles.

Established in 2014 in a converted box factory, adjacent to Tennent's brewery. The building dates from 1964. Drygate Brewing Co have been making beer in the historic heart of Glasgow since 2014. We brew with open doors and open minds
we believe good beer can come from anywhere, and anyone.
Collaboration with our community is at our core
we love showcasing creators of beer, food, art, design, music, comedy, poetry, and more.
Operating across our state of the art bespoke 26.5HL main brewhouse + 250L Studio kit, our brewing team share a passion for great beer. Housed in a converted box factory under the seven peaks of the roof, our building reflects on Glasgow's industrial past while the experiential brewery inside invites visitors on a journey of brewing and discovery.
85 Drygate was built in 1964, originally as a box assembly and screenprinting factory, using brick, steel and concrete. The design concentrates on existing eccentricities of the building, bearing traces of all its previous incarnations: box factory, print works, bottling plant and storage unit.
The original structure and details of the building have been preserved including the restoration of the original seven peaks of the sawtooth roof, exposed brick walls displayed behind newly installed panes of glass and the preservation of paint marks on the concrete floor, celebrating traces of the building's functional heritage.
